In 1998, San Francisco became the first city in the world to adopt CEDAW as a local ordinance.  Based on this work in San Francisco, the NGO CSW launched the Cities for CEDAW campaign in 2013 and over 70 communities throughout the US have joined, with growing international interest in the campaign.

The FRIENDS of the Commission on the Status of Women will present a blueprint for implementing CEDAW at the local level, review the top ten achievements of the San Francisco CEDAW Ordinance, and host partners in the Cities for CEDAW campaign for an in-depth discussion.
